How to Change and Upgrade Nurse Technician to nurse Specialist in Saudi Arabia

A new memorandum was imposed by the Saudi government in healthcare sector for nurses to upgrade their saudi council license from nurse technician to nurse specialist.Most tertiary hospitals private and government is encouraging their staff with a license of a nurse technician to upgrade to nurse specialist, especially if you are in the supervisory position or aiming for a promotion to become a headnurses, supervisors, nurse manager and other positions in which you need to lead, manage and supervise. 

What is the process of changing saudi council license from nurse technician to nurse specialist?

1. Prepare the requirements:

a. If you are an expatriate prepare the following: 

-Passport

-Iqama optional if you are in the kingdom

-Transcript of Records

-Diploma or certificate of graduation

-Professional license 

-Dataflow report of school credentials and Professional license

-Certificate of Employment/ Experience letter with no expereince gap more than 2 years

-Training letter certificate from Saudi council -optional if you have a work gap of more than 2 years

2. Log in to your mumaris account and apply service for reclassification. On the left side Click the Services and choose reclassification Service.

        1. Hi Soumya, the first step, you should apply for reclassification service, payment is 200 SR & wait for approval. After reclassification approval the SCFHS will ask you to pay 900 Sr for eligibility number, this number will be used to book your exam to a specialist.We are also processing application please contact my whatsapp +966509910763.Have a nice day.

    1. Hi, good day, thank you for reaching us, If you are in Saudi Arabia ask your HR to register you, eventually they know the process. However, you can do it yourself, these are the requirements. If you are a new applicant without previous Saudi council COE of current employer, click new registration service and follow the procedure, pay 240 for the fees, however, if you reclassify from technician to specialist payment is 150 if your saudi license is still active, if expired payment is 240 SR for registration.     Do i have already passed the prometric exam and I am now a Nursing specialist and I wanted to change my job from technician to specialist but i was ask to pay 1000 SAR to change my occupation. I have friends from the MOH who had their iqama updated without paying anything.

Good day, its your employer responsibility to change your profession if you are in private sector & they will pay for that depending on your employment policy & contract, however, if you intend to change it yourself you should pay for the fees. Unlike MOH employees the government pays for them.

    1. Hi, good day, open your Mumaris account and apply for re registration if your technician license is still active, however, if it is already expired apply for new registration service.Hope it helps.

    Currently I am working in KSA with valid saudi license as Nurse technician.
    Additional I have diploma in Midwife ,Can I upgrade as Midwife specialist or Nurse midwife specialist.
    If possible please can you guide me Thanks

    1. Hi,Good day, should be Bachelors degree in Midwifery if you want to reclassify as midwifery specialist, however, if you have a Bachelors degree in nursing you can reclassify as nursing specialist. Hope it helps..

        Now a days many new comer nurses diploma holder got license from scfhs as specialist.
        Even they don’t have Bachelor of science degree.

  5. I want to know that now I’m working as GNM technician licence,I completed my post bsc nursing this month. I want to know that,is that possible to change my technician licence to specialist and it need exam again or not, suppose exam need and I didn’t pass on first attempt my licence will cancel or not

    1. You can apply for reclassification in order to upgrade from nurse technician to nurse specialist, however,you should take an exam for nurse specialist.
      Your license will not cancelled as a technician if you fail the exam.I hope it helps.
